Adding Your Own Voice from ElevenLabs
Adding Your Own Voice from ElevenLabs
You can bring almost any voice from ElevenLabs into LongStories and use it for your characters or your narrator. This guide walks you through how.
Requirements
Adding custom voices is available on paid plans. Voice slots by plan:
Plan | Custom voice slots |
|---|---|
Plus / Pro | 3 |
Creator | 10 |
Creator Max / Studio | 20 |
If you're on the free plan, you'll see an upgrade prompt when you try to add a voice. Current plan pricing is on the pricing page.
How to add a voice
Step 1: Find a voice on ElevenLabs
- Go to elevenlabs.io.
- Browse or search for a voice you like.
- Click Share on the voice and copy the link — or simply copy the voice page's URL from your browser.
Step 2: Paste the link in LongStories
- Open any voice picker — a character's voice, or the narrator voice for your universe or video.
- Click Add a custom voice to expand the import section.
- Paste the ElevenLabs link into the ElevenLabs voice link field.
- Click Add voice.
You'll see "Voice added!" and the voice is immediately available in your voice list — for narration and for character dialogue.
Managing your voices
The import section shows how many slots you've used (for example, 2/3 used) and lists the voices you've added, with each voice's name and description. If you've reached your limit, upgrading to a higher plan adds more slots.
Frequently asked questions
Can other users on LongStories use voices I've added?
Yes. Once a voice is added, it joins the shared voice catalog for everyone — you're contributing to the library.
What if the voice I'm adding is already in the catalog?
You'll see "This voice is already available." and can use it right away. No voice slot is consumed.
What link formats work?
Both the Share link and the plain voice page URL work — any link from elevenlabs.io that points at a voice.
Are there voices that can't be imported?
Yes — some voices aren't available for import because of how their creators have priced them on ElevenLabs. If you hit that message, pick a different voice; most of the library imports fine.
What happens if something goes wrong during import?
If the import fails, no voice slot is consumed. Just try again — and if it keeps failing, contact us via the in-app chat.
I'm on Starter — can I add voices?
Starter doesn't include voice selection, so custom voices aren't usable on that tier. Upgrade to Plus or above.
How do I get more voice slots?
Upgrade your plan — from the prompt in the import section or the pricing page.
