Who this is for

Creators, filmmakers, and storytellers who want their AI-generated characters to look the same across multiple videos, scenes, and styles — without rebuilding from scratch every time.

Overview

Character consistency is one of the hardest problems in AI video. Every new generation risks a slightly different face, outfit, or vibe. LongStories solves this with a dedicated Characters system: upload a reference image once, refine a description, and reuse that character across any universe or scene.

Step-by-Step Workflow

1. Open the Characters Tab

  1. Log in to your LongStories account.
  2. In the main dashboard, click the Characters tab.
  3. You'll see existing saved characters and an option to create a new one.

  1. Start a New Character

  1. Click Create character.
  2. Choose your creation method:
  • Upload an image — fastest path to visual consistency.
  • Create manually — type out traits and appearance by hand.

Tip: For most use cases, image upload is the better starting point. A strong reference image gives the model something concrete to anchor to.

3. Upload a Reference Image

  1. Pick a clear, front-facing photo or illustration of your character.
  2. Click Next to upload.
  3. LongStories analyzes the image and extracts:
  • Physical appearance (face, hair, body type)
  • Clothing and accessories
  • Overall style and visual vibe

Analysis may take a moment depending on image complexity.

4. Review and Refine the Auto-Description

Once analysis completes, LongStories generates a written description. Review it carefully:

  • Face, hair, and body type — is it accurate?
  • Clothing and accessories — are details captured?
  • Style — does it read as cinematic, cartoon, realistic, etc.?

Edit any fields that feel off. This description is what the model leans on to maintain consistency. When satisfied, click Create character.

5. Save and Reuse

Your character is now saved and ready to drop into any universe or scene. To adjust later, click Edit on the character profile and update the description fields.

6. The Reference Sheet — Why It Matters

After creation, LongStories automatically generates a reference sheet: a set of example images showing the character from different angles and contexts.

The reference sheet:

  • Gives the system multiple visual anchors for the same character.
  • Maintains the same face, style, and outfit across different universes, scenes, and videos.

Whenever this character appears in your stories, LongStories uses the reference sheet to ensure visual continuity.

Example Use Case

You're producing a 5-part mini-series with the same protagonist. Create the character once from a strong reference image, refine the description, and plug them into all five episodes — no more "different person every time" syndrome.

Pro Tips for Filmmakers

  • Use a neutral-expression, front-facing image as your primary reference — it gives the model the cleanest read on facial structure.
  • If your character has a signature outfit or accessory, describe it explicitly in the text fields, not just in the image.
  • Test your character in a simple scene before committing to a full video — it's faster to catch description issues early.
