Duration — How Long Should Your Video Be?
Long Stories lets you set the length of the video before generating. Here's how to think about it:
Duration | Good For | Notes |
|---|---|---|
30–60 seconds | Quick tests, social clips | Fastest render, cheapest on credits |
1–3 minutes | Short-form stories, YouTube Shorts | Good balance of depth and speed |
3–5 minutes | Explainers, story episodes | Requires more credits and generation time |
10–15 minutes | Full episodes (Studio plan) | Best for polished, long-form content |
Why Duration Matters Beyond Length
Longer videos:
- Take longer to generate (can push 20+ minutes for complex long videos)
- Use more credits
- Are harder and more expensive to fix if the style or script isn't right
Recommendation for beginners: Start with 30–90 second videos. Validate your universe, characters, and script first. Then scale up to longer formats once the output quality meets your expectations.
Storyboard Mode as a Duration Shortcut
Instead of generating a full animated video to test an idea, use Storyboard mode:
- Generates static frames instead of full animation
- Much faster than full video generation
- Shows you shot compositions, character placements, and scene flow
- Lets you check if the style is working before committing to a full render
Use storyboard mode as a low-cost preview step before your real generation run.
