How to Build Your Own Visual Universe in LongStories

Who this is for

Creators, brand teams, and filmmakers who want to define a reusable visual world — a consistent style, tone, and look that all their videos share — without starting from scratch on every project.

Overview

A universe in LongStories is the foundation of visual consistency. It defines the style, storytelling rules, and narrator voice that all videos generated within it will follow. Building a custom universe is how you move from "random AI outputs" to a recognizable creative body of work.

Step-by-Step Workflow

1. Open the Universes Section

  1. Log in to LongStories.
  2. Navigate to the Universe section in the app.
  3. You'll see all available universes — system defaults and any you've created.

  1. Create a New Universe

  1. Click Create universe.
  2. Give your universe a clear, descriptive name that reflects the world you're building.
  • Examples: "Bright Lego City", "Neo-Noir Alley", "Soft Watercolor Fables"

3. Write the Universe Description

The description is the most important field. Use it to define:

  • Visual style — materials, lighting, color palette (e.g., "Lego bricks, bold primary colors, hard plastic textures, cinematic lighting")
  • Story types — the kinds of narratives that feel at home here (e.g., "playful urban action, city-scale adventures, family-friendly stakes")
  • Tone and rules — mood and any content guardrails (e.g., "energetic and comedic, never dark or violent")

Tip: Think of this description as a brief for a visual director. The more specific and evocative, the better the system can interpret your intent.

4. Set Privacy and Visibility

Choose who can access this universe:

  • Private — only you or your team can use it.
  • Shared or public options may be available depending on your account.

Start private while you're testing and refining the universe.

5. Choose Visual Style and References

You have two options for locking in the visual style:

  • Let AI decide — the system interprets your description freely. Good for exploratory universes.
  • Upload reference images — push the style in a specific direction by providing visual examples. Best for brand consistency or recreating a specific aesthetic.

Reference images are especially useful if you have strong existing brand visuals or want to emulate a particular look.

6. Select the Narrator Voice

  1. Browse the available narrator voices.
  2. Choose one that matches the tone of your universe.
  • Playful and energetic for family-friendly worlds.
  • Serious and cinematic for dramatic series.
  • Warm and intimate for personal storytelling.

This voice will be used for any video generated inside this universe where narration is enabled.

7. Build the Universe

  1. Click Continue.
  2. LongStories processes your inputs and constructs the universe.
  3. Once complete, you're redirected and ready to start creating inside it.

What You Can Do With Your Universe

Once built, your universe becomes a creative home base:

  • Start new videos that automatically inherit the style.
  • Plug in custom characters who exist within this world.
  • Generate scenes and episodes that all feel like they belong together.

This is how you build a recognizable visual identity for a channel, brand, or series.

Example Use Case

You're launching an animated YouTube channel with a Lego aesthetic. You create a "Bright Lego City" universe: you describe the visual style, upload a few reference frames, pick an upbeat narrator voice, and keep it private. Every video you generate inside that universe — from episode 1 to episode 50 — shares the same world. Your channel looks intentional, not random.

Pro Tips for Filmmakers

  • Treat the description like a style guide — be specific about what belongs in this world and what doesn't.
  • Build multiple universes for different series rather than one catch-all universe. Separation keeps each world sharp.
  • After creating, generate a short test video with a simple prompt to verify the style is reading correctly before using the universe for real projects.
